Often I have to go for long drive and as I am not very much aware of basics of auto mechanics, I need to take a person who knows about it. So, I want to learn basics of auto mechanics to remove the dependency.

Many online tutorials are there which will be beneficial for you in learning basics of auto mechanics. These are explained with proper pictures and video so that it will be easier for you to understand.

I agree that online tutorials are very helpful but still I believe hands on experience on anything is very important. So, I would suggest if you know any auto mechanic tutor then spend some time. Even if any of your friend or family member are aware of basics of auto mechanics take their guidance and spend some time on weekends to learn from them.
